PORTOFINO - ITALY
Portofino was a bit of an accidental find for us to be honest..
We were staying in the near by area for a family wedding and we took a day trip to Santa Margherita. Upon arriving in Santa Margherita we found a coastal walk that took us around to Portofino.
So we set off to find a lunchtime spot, a gelato and a coffee of 2.
We started the walk in Santa Margherita after getting a coffee and making sure we knew that there would be somewhere for lunch. After checking the map, we chose Baia Di Paraggi as the place to grab some lunch, not sure what we would find but as it was Italy, we were pretty sure that it would be good.
The coastal route to Portofino from Santa Margherita
We passed by sail boats, cruising through the crystal sea. The most idyllic of scenes. The walk was not challenging but there were some inclines and descents. Trainers were a good choice but most abilities would be able to take this walk on and enjoy it. Our lunch spot was perfectly located and we were thrilled to have found a real gem.
Ferrari Prosecco & Lobster Linguini
This restaurant was such a fabulous find, nestled into a beautiful bay, just a stones thrown from Portofino. A place for boats to dock whilst people sipped on lunchtime Spritz and fresh salad and seafood.
Reluctantly my mum and I finished our drinks as the men were itching to get back to the walk. We could happily have stayed there all afternoon nd sipped the day away.
Back onto the trail we went and we started the slight incline towards Portofino, it is only about another 30-45 minutes on from here and the walk will bring you down the side of the cliff, into buzzing Portofino. Where the stylish sailboats had docked and people were starting to overflow from the bars and restaurants.
The atmosphere in this stunning and infamous port was already super inviting, tempting us to kick off our shoes, dive into the sparkling sea and irresponsibly lazing the early evening away. However we had to walk home and we had a toddler with us, so irresponsible and spontaneous was not an option sadly.
