ZUM SEE ALPINE RESTAURANT

Located about a 40 minute foot walk from Zermatt, Zum See offers a home-like atmosphere and serves excellent gourmet cuisine with traditional and Mediterranean dishes and fine wines. Salads and vegetables from our gardens and homemade pasta, desserts and Ice Creams are waiting for you! 

We have visited Zermatt a few times, always in the summer as we have taken part in the ULTRAKS running competition that happens every August.

It is an absolutely stunning place. The hiking is great and varied and there is a lot to offer all the family. I was pregnant during this trip and we had a 4 year old and we still had lots to do.

On this occasion we took one of the lifts up to near by the Sum See restaurant and made the shortish walk down through the trees, until we came to the most idyllic little settlement, much like something from Lord of the Rings.

The old chalets were buzzing with people and the pathways adorned with cream parasols, shielding diners from the strong sun. We had booked a table in advance as it is a popular place. This restaurant was a recommendation from the wonderful Alexandra Dudley (@alexandradudley).

We opted for classic spaghetti bollonaise with fresh egg pasta and rusty with ham & egg. Followed by homemade ice cream and apricot tart. It was DELICIOUS!

The setting here was wonderful, kids running around exploring the nooks and crannies and people sitting and enjoying slowing down after a small or big hike through the mountains.

I highly recommend trying this place if you re in Zermatt, it’s fabulous.
